ActionSG now truly up and running

The first meeting of local residents organised and held in a hurry was very well attended and there were lots of positive contributions. Thanks to all who attended and apologies to those of you who couldn't make it. We received lots of contacts and offers of help. Importantly we have started to tap into lots of local knowledge and an extended network of contacts and expertise. We were very pleased that the Parish Council were also well represented. We had lots of actions and ideas to take away which we have started to work on.

ActionSG is now truly up and running

We are aware that we have not reached out to the whole community and we aim to correct that early in the new year. Through the grapevine and through email we have had lots of messages of support from others in the community who think the whole concept of such a large care home in Stoke Golding is ludicrous and unwarranted.

We are also aware that its our turn today, but we know developers are sniffing around many sites in the village. We have delivered far more than our quota of housing in Stoke Golding which we are still trying to absorb. The community is working on a Neighbourhood Plan to establish what we need for the future.
We will not tolerate speculative developers riding roughshod over us.

Meeting for Station Road, Higham Lane and Main Street residents

60 Bed Care Home Coming to Stoke Golding
That’s what it says on the Avery Healthcare website (“subject to final planning approvals”)  https://www.averyhealthcare.co.uk/new-developments/Avery Healthcare have stated that they want to build a 60 bed care home with 34 assisted living bungalows on land to the south of Station Road off Higham Lane (As534 on map below).

Avery have been very active recently surveying access off Higham Lane and we also know that they are in pre-application discussions with Hinckley & Bosworth Council. Publicly they are keeping their cards very close to their chest but they could submit a planning application at any time and time to respond may be short.

A major development – is that what the village wants / needs? Does this concern you? If it does, please come along to a meeting on Tue 11th Dec, 7:30 at the Methodist Hall. We can bring you up to speed with what we know and work out together what to do next.

Can't make the meeting but would like to know more? Email actionsg@hotmail.com and we will get back to you.

We have focused on residents in the immediate vicinity as we wanted to get the meeting under way quickly and get our group up and running before Christmas. We do want to engage with the whole community and we would welcome input from all and in particular from people who want to get actively involved.
